  The Constitution of The Republic of Ireland, according to former Chief Justice Cearbhall Ó Dálaigh (who was also the Fifth President of the Republic of Ireland), is founded on the doctrine of the  tripartite division of powers  of government -- (1) Legislative (Oireachtas), (2) Executive (Government Cabinet Ministers), and (3) Judicial (Courts). Thus, the abuse of power by one of the main branches of our overall Government can be checked by either one or both of the other two, and by such means government wrongdoing such as corruption, bullying, and the deliberate deceiving of our people (by our own Government), can hopefully be prevented.
