ONLY IRISH LAWYERS ARE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE IN IRISH COURTS?
New Inn
Ballinasloe
County Galway
Republic of Ireland

Brendan (Kelly),
Barrister (Attorney) John Reilly, of "Tooks Chambers", is the full name
of the lawyer I was trying to remember yesterday evening.
As far as I can remember it was Judge Mary Devins who verbally attacked
him during a "Shell to Sea" Court hearing several years ago, claiming
that he had no right to be acting on behalf of local activists because
he was "not Irish", or "not Irish qualified", or something of that sort
(even though he really is Irish as far as I know, and has also been "trained in
Ireland" I think).
Also, Barrister (Attorney) Shauna Gillan of "Matrix Chambers" (who is
from County Mayo if I remember rightly) lashed out in a big way (on
Indymedia Ireland) at around the same time regarding the manner in which
Judge Mary Devins (if it was her who verbally attacked John Reilly) was
behaving in court.
As you may already know, "Tooks Chambers", and "Matrix Chambers", are
among the most prestigious of London's top law-firms.

LAWYERS WHO ARE ALLERGIC TO HUMAN RIGHTS LAW (IN PRACTICE)
And there are a great MANY it would seem!!
Possibly ALL (or almost all) of those practicing law on the Island of
Ireland at the present time perhaps?
"Unfortunately, I have found the legal profession in Northern Ireland
(United Kingdom) to be just as allergic to human rights law as their
counterparts in the Republic of Ireland."
The quote just above is from an email dated January 25th 2008: and there
appears to be "absolutely no change whatsoever in the overall situation
in Ireland" regarding this particular situation since then (from William
Finnerty's viewpoint at least).

Amnesty International, the London Metropolitan Police Service, and the
Royal Mail is rectified as soon as possible please. To me, it feels like
“the dark forces which we do not understand” are very definitely at work

COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME"
'I would ask you to please take very careful note of the fact that I
have not misconstrued, in any way, what Marjorie has related to me in
telephone conversations regarding your alleged comment to the effect
that "human rights law was a complete waste of time".'
"Actions speak louder than words" Mr Nolan, and your actions, and those
of Justice Minister Michael Mc Dowell, all suggest to me - in the
strongest possible terms - that neither you, nor Minister McDowell, have
any regard whatsoever for my legal rights under human rights law.
Similarly, for all of the several other lawyers I have tried to get help
from to date (since 2002) regarding the issues in
question.

ARE JUDGES INFALLIBLE?
===
Are judges infallible?
by W.
Finnerty Sat Apr 07, 2007 09:47
More importantly, as far as the future of ancient heritage sites in the
Tara / Skreen Valley is concerned, is Mr. Justice Thomas Smyth
infallible?
Keeping in mind that the quotes below were written by one of the most
highly regarded lawyers of all time, some may wish to consider the
general ideas his quotes contain:
"I do not charge the judges with wilful and ill-intentioned error; but
honest error must be arrested where its toleration leads to public ruin.
As for the safety of society, we commit honest maniacs to Bedlam; so
judges should be withdrawn from their bench whose erroneous biases are
leading us to dissolution. It may, indeed, injure them in fame or in
fortune; but it saves the republic, which is the first and supreme law."
--Thomas Jefferson: Autobiography, 1821. ME 1:122
"The original error [was in] establishing a judiciary independent of the
nation, and which, from the citadel of the law, can turn its guns on
those they were meant to defend, and control and fashion their
proceedings to its own will." --Thomas Jefferson to John Wayles Eppes,
1807. FE 9:68
"It is a misnomer to call a government republican in which a branch of
the supreme power is independent of the nation." --Thomas Jefferson to
James Pleasants, 1821. FE 10:198
"At the establishment of our Constitutions, the judiciary bodies were
supposed to be the most helpless and harmless members of the government.
Experience, however, soon showed in what way they were to become
the
most dangerous;
that the insufficiency of the means provided for their
removal gave them a freehold and irresponsibility in office; that their
decisions, seeming to concern individual suitors only, pass silent and
unheeded by the public at large; that these decisions nevertheless
become law by precedent, sapping by little and little the foundations of
the Constitution and working its change by construction before any one
has perceived that that invisible and helpless worm has been busily
employed in consuming its substance. In truth, man is not made to be
trusted for life if secured against all liability to account." --Thomas
Jefferson to A. Coray, 1823. ME 15:486
