Making a mockery of democracy to
please the bankers ...
By William
Finnerty
Sinn Fein are the only ones making
any sense (to me) regarding the rushing through of
Finance Bill 2011 (Republic of
Ireland).
::::::::
"The people
should have a say. When the people have their say, then
a new Dáil - a new Government - can bring forward any
measures that it's mandated to bring
forward." (Recent Sinn
Fein statement regarding the
issue)
Simple?
But what is it that is
preventing the rest of our "elected representatives" (so
called) from supporting such a fundamental and basic
democratic principle, regarding such a hugely important
social issue: arguably the most important in the history
of the State?
One thing is for sure: I would
NEVER vote for ANY general election candidate who is
making such a socially destructive and irresponsible
mockery of democracy in the way that all of our non-Sinn
Fein general election candidates appear to be hell-bent
on doing just now.
The Finance
Bill 2011 is important because it is a
central commitment that the Republic of Ireland
government entered into as part of the 85bn euro
European and IMF bailout loan announced last November:
to help pay for the self-inflicted gambling debts of the
bankers.
Surely this huge bankers 'bailout loan'
from the IMF (and the European
Central Bank) is among the MOST
important, if not the most
important, of all the General Election
issues?
Why the
almighty big rush to pass the Finance
Bill?
Article
6.1 of
Bunreacht na hEireann (The Constitution of the
Republic of Ireland):
"All powers of
government, legislative, executive and judicial, derive,
under God, from the people (NOTE:
NOT THE BANKERS), whose right it is to
designate the rulers of the State and, in final
(NOTE: FINAL meaning FINAL) appeal, to
decide all questions of national policy, according to
the requirements of the common good
."
