This is the
best piece of news I've come across in a long, long time.
Now we
must all wait and see if the following extremely basic, and extremely important
legal principle applies (or not) in the Republic of Ireland's "Judicial
Branch":
"The Judicial Branch must be independent of other
branches of government, but NOT independent of the nation
itself."
The above statement, taken from
http://etext.virginia.edu/jefferson/quotations/jeff1270.htm ,
comes from one of the world's most famous lawyers: Thomas Jefferson (principal
author of the American Declaration of Independence and third President of the
United States).
