According to a recent Guardian article, gombeen Irish politicians from Fiannna Fail, Fine Gael & Labour have secretly agreed a common marine border, in which the Irish island of Rockall, has been ceeded to the British by these corrupt Irish politicians. British occupation of the Irish island of Rockall an Irish outcrop jutting out on a vast lucrative oilfield west of Ireland, which is to be examined within weeks by the UN, means that Ireland will loose trillions of badly needed tax dollars, because of deals done by the corrupt politicians in the three main parties in Dublin. Irish Republicans claim that the island is part of Ireland along with all the vast reserves of oil and gas which belong to all the people of Ireland.. It is also believed that huge bribes were offered to all of the three parties as well, with regard to large reserves of oil and Gas off the coast of Ireland...read more @ Rebels YELL link below... "Rockall, nonetheless, sits on a plateau claimed by all four nations. Britain and Ireland have agreed a common marine border that leaves Rockall in the UK sector."

Usually the waves break over Rockall.
Good pic:

You got there first Mr. Finnerty so mea culpa.
Shows you the stupidiity of politicans though.
Only oil-men are interested in Rockall.
And they have fabulous technology.
They should pay.
Scandinavians will make them pay for the seafloor.
We gobshite Irish gave the seafloor free to the oil-men.
..came a stranger idea.
My scope says nationalistic claims are no more relevant in the 21st century than corporate piracy. They are both redundant paradigms from our historic social evolution and have to stepped down if we are to find managment systems to make our species viable into the unavoidably globalised future.
These are common human resources, and a first-come-first-served schoolyard code of spoils division just means the deepest pockets will buy the slickest lawyers to advance their claims.
We need a more radical breakdown of ownership values, or the final arbiter will, as ever, remain the kiddy with the biggest arsenal.
We have to devise structures based on humanised scientific assessment rather than instinctive animal territorial claims. Unfortunately its looking more and more likely the long-predicted resource wars of the 21st century will pre-empt any effort to initiate such saltatory transitions.
Given the collective firepower of the contenders, and the completion of the long, slow-burning, stealth coup by DARPA and its affilliated agencies in Washington, plus the general fascistic appeasement of militarism as credo of first resort(culturally ingrained over centuries to the extent it monopolises much of our self-definition) I wouldn't go getting optimistic.
There is another case pending through the UN presently between ourselves and Denmark/Faroe Islands. It is expected to take two years for a judgement. One thing for sure. The big guns are not going to undermine their monopolistic ambitions. Any progress will have to come from a coalition built throught the General Assembly which will be opposed tooth and nail, cloak n dagger, by the big kiddies in the Security Council.
Once upon a time, fado, fado, we had Irishmen in the UN who understood this aspiration to a more just global post-colonial regime. Since then we have become the lap-dog of the poodle of the Pentagon and its NATO coalition of the wilful.

it's not the movies, it's the orientation slides.
The harsh reality guys, is that there has been minimal protest to the give away of our natural resource's, where are the protests? By this stage, I despair, with all due respect to the people to the people who have displayed such tremendous courage at Westport?
Street protests cannot possibly work (by themselves) when, as recent events very clearly demonstrate, the privately owned, greed-ridden, and power-mad global banking cartel has COMPLETE control of all three of the main branches of our Government: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
"This is an era of financed crime and in the financing of crime the Fed (i.e. the privately owned Central Bank of the United States of America) does not play the part of a disinterested spectator." (US Congressman Louis T. McFadden)
"Unfortunately, and thanks to the rock-solid impunity arrangements which are in place at the present time for protecting the very accomplished, sophisticated, and long-established group of major criminals involved, it seems unlikely that the police will ever investigate this particularly pernicious form of crime?"
Consequently, unconvicted criminals -- of the very WORST and NASTIEST type imaginable -- now run the show; and, they do so with the full support of our own TDs "elected representatives" (so called), our senators, our judges, our President (Mary McAleese), and, last but by no means least: our entire legal profession as well.

One to snare. Just picked up a fresh one in Easons Friday. 'Treasure Islands' (Taxhavens and the men who stole the world) by Nicholas Shaxson, Bodely Head,2011.
Nice expose of the networks of launderers and tax scammers that facilitate this global churnover of the producers of the earth's wealth into the holds of the yachts of these 'players' pirating our futures.
The radio continues to deal with it as a national problem, just the decoy these stateless saboteurs like to see hunted while they count their skyscraping zillions all the way home. All the usual suspects, plus a few, and more detail than most of us can access.Shaxson has worked for the FT and Economist so he has an inside lane. Details the beggar-my-neighbour, race-to-the-pits we're trapped in.
Page 32. 'Millions of people around the world have for years had a queasy feeling that something is rotten in the global economy, though many have struggled to work out what the problem is. This book will reveal the original source of the trouble.'
Thats what it says on the tin. He gives a website(didn't get to look yet)as www.treasure islands.org ,so check it for the selves.
There are a number of interesting comments about the "Treasure Islands" book at http://treasureislands.org/praise-for-the-book/ which include the following:
"At last, a readable – indeed gripping – book which explains the nuts and bolts of tax havens. More importantly, it lays bare the mechanism that financial capital has been using to stay in charge: capturing government policy-making around the world, shaking off such irritants as democracy and the rule of law, and making sure that suckers like you and me pay for its operators’ opulent lifestyles."
