Hi
I'm Jon Price, exec member of WAC, and council
rep for Northern
Europe. Clare Smith, WAC president has
asked me to oversee the
production of a report on Tara. I
visited the landscape briefly during
the Dublin congress
and talked to some members of the Tarawatch camp.
I was
at the session where the different parties made
presentations on
Tara. I spoke in support of several of
the Tara proposals at the WAC6
plenary. I am an active
archaeologist, based at Northumbria
University. My area
of research is the way landscapes are invested
with
sacred status.
I have just joined this group, and
will now read through the postings.
I will be contacting
various people involved direct. I am fully aware
that the
process of archaeology in Ireland today is a contested
zone.
If you have published statements or documents which
you think I should
read to further understand the
situation I would be grateful to
receive them. I am not
looking for individual opinion (whether from a
chief
archaeologist or a protester)but for evidence supporting
a
broader communal view.
